was it hard to have it (model-explorer) run in Spaces?

No, it wasn't that hard to setup. Simply install ai-edge-model-explorer from pypi, and start the server.
The dockerfile is very straightforward: https://huggingface.co/spaces/1aurent/model-explorer/blob/main/Dockerfile
It's too bad we can't (easily/directly) preload the server with some models 😢, so you have to bring you owns.
Yes! Being able to select a model ID on the hub and pick a file from the repo would be impressive!
