Help Fully Utilizing The Model

Can anyone give me some direction on how to properly use this model? I see that it has personas, however, I'm unsure how to utilize them, if I even need to at all. I primarily use models for roleplaying and not much else right now. I'm pretty dense, so please be patient.

I'm mainly just trying to understand how to utilize the personas and whether it's even required for roleplaying. I enjoyed the style and detail it provided, so I want to give this a fair shot.

Oh and does anyone know if this model works well at all with XTC or DRY sampling?

If you have the ability to set a system prompt and a character name, that's all you need to get started with one of the "built-in" personas. To get a better experience I suggest using the more extensive templates, which I've supplied as text files in this repo.

They don't need to be used in any way, but their training data enhances other roleplay aspects, which is kinda the entire idea! Their personalities leak through and are applied whenever appropriate.

I've no idea what performance is like with the XTC/DRY sampler - I've been perfectly content setting temperature and min-p only, as described in the model card.

So, just to make sure I've got the right idea (for reference I use SillyTavern like 99% of the time), in System Prompt, I should copy one of the descriptions of the persona's you provided, add in information about my character, and I should be good to go?

I'm sorry if these questions are obvious, I haven't touched any amount of model training or experienced any other models (if there are any) with baked in personas. Usually in ST I use character cards and their "persona" tab (the one where you describe the character you're roleplaying as). Do the baked-in personas sort of act like a middleman, like a guide on how the character card's personality should act, or are they meant to be used completely independently?
