Belle-Île-en-Mer, jewel of Brittany, is preparing to welcome an ambitious and unique project: the construction of a windmill to grind wheat and produce flour. This initiative is carried out by the non-profit association "FROM GRAIN TO BREAD".
The idea of this project is simple but bold: to build a traditional windmill on the island to grind locally grown wheat. The flour produced will then be sold to local businesses such as bakeries and crêperies. This project aims not only to revitalize local craftsmanship but also to promote sustainable agricultural practices and strengthen the island's economy.
Windmills are an integral part of Belle-Île-en-Mer's heritage. By building this mill, we wish to pay tribute to this tradition and offer the community a symbol of solidarity and sustainability. The mill will also be an educational place where visitors can discover traditional milling methods and learn more about the island's history.
